Host Institution Provisions
Each ESI program is developed according to the needs of a particular host institution. Therefore, arrangements may vary somewhat from program to program. However, the following are some items which every institution wishing to host an ESI team should be able to provide:
- Housing: One room per teacher with private or semi-private bath and a shared living area. (Most ESI teams consist of two teachers of the same sex or a married couple.)
- Living stipend: A monthly wage sufficient to cover basic living costs and food in the host country. (The amount should be comparable to a standard foreign teacher’s salary.)
- Medical coverage: Basic in-country medical care should be provided. However, ESI teachers are encouraged to maintain worldwide coverage through their western provider.
