Educational Services International Program/Contract Description |
|
Educational Services International (ESI) was founded in 1981 as a non-profit service organization with a strong commitment towards international development based on Christian humanitarian principles. ESI teachers are all university graduates who have received special training in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Each year we send approximately 150 American teachers to teach in Russia, Kazakhstan, throughout Central Europe, North Africa, Azerbaijan, China, and Southeast Asia. We hope that soon we can place American teachers in your institution.
ESI is looking for institutions that want American English teachers who will teach practical/conversational English. We prefer intermediate students who have an understanding of English grammar. No interpreters are used. Our programs teach either students from the institution or students from the community who pay tuition.
To help you understand what your institution would have to do in order to receive ESI teachers, here are the main points from the contract you would have to sign. In some rare cases, ESI could negotiate one of the points of the contract to fit the special needs of an institution. This would have to be done prior to signing the contract.
- ESI yearlong teachers work approximately 15-20 hours a week, Monday through Friday, approximately 18 weeks per semester and 2 semesters per year. We also send summer teams to teach English if you’re interested, and those programs are 4-5 weeks.
- ESI teachers come in teams of two or more per institution.
- The host institution provides each teacher with salary, housing, and health care.
- The host institution will pay each teacher a monthly salary comparable to their national colleagues. If the cost of living increases, the salary for ESI teachers shall be adjusted according to the teachers at the school. ESI teachers receive no money from ESI.
- The host institution will provide an apartment with a single private bedroom for each teacher (two rooms if they are a married couple). The team of ESI teachers will share a bathroom, kitchen, living room and telephone. The teacher shall be able to host friends or relatives overnight in their apartment at no extra charge.
- The host institution will provide the necessary teaching equipment and office equipment. This includes office space, a desk, use of a computer and access to a photocopy machine.
- The necessary papers required for work visas and residence permits for the teachers shall be arranged and paid for by the host school.
Thank you!
